Lu pozze sinza fonne is Beatrice Celli’s second solo exhibition in Italy. Installed in the ancient cistern of the Archaeological Museum of the Territory of Suasa, the exhibition brings into dialogue works produced in France with the intention of giving life to a personal mythology—one that invites viewers to imagine new worlds.
Engaging with the exhibition site, the artist questioned the rhetoric of the limitless availability of resources such as water, by drawing on the values of peasant society—capable of creating self-sustaining and regenerative systems. From the depths of the cistern, the works emerge to shape a new mythological dimension.
The artist’s research is inspired by the mystical and popular culture of Abruzzo, her native region. In her artistic practice, sculptures, performances, texts, and drawings are brought to life through a kind of invented folklore, integrating humble materials, artisanal techniques, and forgotten micro-histories. Within the cistern, the works were conceived as living organisms in mutual symbiosis, forming a single immersive and organic whole.
The power of the invented symbols is made tangible through instinctive or meticulous gestures that hybridize matter and belief. By adopting an anthropological perspective, the works reveal an apotropaic, almost magical meaning, becoming contemporary cult objects liberated from all religious dogma.
